How does Airplane (Flight) Mode work?

When the device is set to "Airplane mode," it temporarily disables the wireless transmission to AirView or myAir. The device will send periodic reminders that it is in "Airplane Mode". A small airplane icon will appear in the top right corner of the device screen to show this mode is enabled.
