I am getting a burning rubber smell from my device and/or tube.

If you detect an odor from the very first time you use your device, it may be what is known as "outgassing." Some patients can be sensitive to new car smells or some types of plastics; outgassing is similar. If you are sensitive to these types of smells, contact your home medical equipment provider to find out how to set your device to run for 8-12 hours; this will blow out the new odor of the plastics within the device. As more time is accumulated on the device, the odor dissipates. Please be reassured that your device is able to function as programmed with no harm to you if you use your therapy during the time when the odor is noticeable.
