Can the HumidX/HumidX Plus be cleaned?

The HumidX/HumidX Plus heat-moisture exchanger cannot be cleaned and cannot get wet. It must be replaced 30 days after opening the packaging. Even if the HumidX/HumidX Plus was not used every day during the 30 day period, it still must be replaced.
